Under the contract with the Directorate General for Culture and Education of the European Commission, ICUnet.AG (Service Provider) is the service provider of the OCEANS Network. The range of services include inter alia: website maintenance and support, conceptualisation and development of OCEANS Network, administrative and financial management, events management, promotion and information support.
1. Access
The website of OCEANS Network offers a public space and a password protected area only for members of the Network. Membership is granted upon registration to: students currently studying under one of the programmes in the framework of official cooperation of the European Union with the industrialised countries (the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Australia); students who have completed any exchange programme/ graduates in the framework of official cooperation of the European Union with the industrialised countries (the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Australia); members of staff of universities and higher education institutions participating in the partners and promoters of the programmes in the framework of official cooperation of the European Union with the industrialised countries (the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Australia) on the national and regional level.
2. Content
The Service Provider reserves the right not to be responsible for the topicality, correctness, completeness or quality of the information provided. Liability claims regarding damage caused by the use of any information provided, including any kind of information which is incomplete or incorrect, will therefore be rejected. All offers are not-binding and without obligation. Parts of the pages or the complete publication including all offers and information might be extended, changed or partly or completely deleted by Service Provider without separate announcement. While the website is financed by the European Commission, the contents do not necessarily reflect the official position of the European Commission.
3. Referrals and links
This website contains links to external websites which the Service Provider shall not be held responsible for. If any legal violations become apparent the respective links will be removed as soon as possible. Furthermore the Service Provider is not liable for any postings or messages published by users of the online forum.
4. Privacy Policy
As far as the storage, processing and / or archival of personal data is necessary for the provision of the above-mentioned services, the Service Provider respects and fulfils the regulations of the German Federal Data Privacy Law (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz BDSG) and the Information- and Communication-Services Law (Informations- und Kommunikationsdienstegesetz IuKDG). All persons involved in the processing of personal data have committed to §5 of the BDSG.
In particular the Service Provider assures that all data collected during the registration process and in user profiles will be made available to eligible staff of the Service Provider and the Directorate General for Culture and Education of the European Commission only. The OCEANS Network nor the Service Provider will never rent, sell, or otherwise provide personal data to any third party for advertising, marketing or any such purposes. The Service Provider pledges to undertake any measures to prevent unauthorized access to personal data by third parties (i.e. non-registered users).
Profile information is available to other registered users of the OCEANS Network. The Service Provider is not liable for any content of the messages sent by a user to other members of the Network.
